The Engine House is a Grade II Listed building located within Wheal Kitty Workshops, athriving estate of multi-let units that sits on an elevated site above the North Atlantic just east of the town of St. Agnes. The building is of a traditional construction for an engine house, being of rubble stone and Killas with brick inserts. It sits under an apex pitched natural slate roof. An upper balcony has been provided to the top floor with external access from within. There is a chimney stack rising on one corner, of which the upper part is brick work and the lower part is stone.

The former Carrick District Council converted the building into an office in approximately early 2005 using a mixture of European and Government grant aid. Given the nature of its construction, the building as currently converted has experienced continual issues, resulting in the inability of the main structure to resist the weather. Consequently the building has endured ongoing problems such as damp, salting, mould and fungal growth and high humidity. Despite various works to try and mitigate this being carried out over the years, these issues remain and the building is not fit for habitation in its current condition. It now therefore offers an exciting refurbishment / development opportunity for an occupant with the right vision to bring this historic building back to life

St Agnes is a picturesque village located on the north coast of Cornwall. Like many similar villages and towns in the area the village has a mining history but which now is focused on tourism.
